Guilt

I knew when I brought a new kitty home that inevitably I would feel some guilt and regret for invading Izzy's space with another kitty. She has growled, hissed, and sulked. Last night out of nowhere, when Larry bent down to rub her belly, she attacked. Don't get me wrong, Izzy is a fiesty kitty, but last night she went crazy.

The new kitty, Oz, is locked up in his "safe room" until Izzy adjusts. I gave him a bunch of toys, that Izzy has always refused to play with. If the stuffed mice don't make noise, she wants nothing to do with them and jingly balls bore her. I figured that was safe. I didn't want her to get jealous over what he had in his room. Unfortunately one of the jingly balls ended up by the door and Izzy has parked herself outside that door, peering under trying to get a handle on what is lurking on the other side. She saw the ball and was not happy. Then with a little shaking paw she tried to get it out from under the door. That is what broke my heart. My little Izzy-plums paw shaking. I feel so very guilty.

As I type this though, Izzy has come over and is sprawled on my lap, purring, demanding belly rubs. She must not hate me too much.

Darkness. . .

A thunderstorm rolled through last night and knocked the power out at our house for over 3 hours. I managed to stumble through the darkness and find the candles and matches. (The joy of living in a tiny house is one doesn't have to go far to get anything, which cuts down on the amount of times one trips and runs into things in the darkness.) The meowser lounged on the coffee table fixated on the candlelight.

Izzy

It has been a few days since I put up a meowser picture. I just can't help myself, she is too cute!

Daisy

I went into the backyard this morning and immediately heard plaintive little meows. I'm starting to wonder how much time this little cat spends in my yard. She was quite comfortable lounging on a kayak.

If she continues being so precious, it is going to be hard for me not to keep her. I wonder if Izzy would like her? Probably not. She then threw herself in front of the door to prevent me from returning inside. When that failed, she attempted to sneak in. Sigh. She is too sweet.

Meow

We have a squatter in our backyard. I have named her Daisy. She is a little silver tabby kitty kat. I went outside to water the roses this morning and she was on the deck staring at me. So I gave her some belly rubs and she tried to eat my hand.

I've seen her around the house before, but she usually runs off home. At least I hope she has a home to run off to. She has a collar, but she must belong to brilliant people, because there is no tag attached to that collar.

I went to go back inside, to my Izzy Rose, who doesn't have a tag or a collar, but who is petrified of being outside and therefore has no need for either, since she is a strictly inside kitty, and Daisy tried to follow me in. She was very persistent. I didn't let her in though, I don't believe in catnapping. So I went inside and found my Izzy, who was and still is pretty pissed at me. She is a jealous meowser and doesn't like it when I give belly rubs freely to other felines. I hope she gets over it by the end of the day.

Isabel Rose

Some days you just need to stop and smell the roses.

Apparently, Isabel Rose Meowser was aptly named. Whenever cut flowers are in the house, she needs to stop and admire them. Unless its an orchid, in which case it needs to be swatted down like an enemy combatant. Roses, though, are obviously her favorite.
