Searching. . .

For years I have been searching for a starfish whenever I go snorkeling. I am obsessed. Years ago I had a dream that I was choking on several large starfish. For some reason that dream has stuck with me and has created and driven this obsession. Whenever I mention my search to see a starfish in the water, people tell me where to go, that there are always starfish at such and such place. I go and I never find one.

This last trip to St John, though, I finally found a one! I had given up looking and there below me was this starfish. Just hanging out, waiting for me. We played nice for a little while, then the little guy was returned back to where I found him and he slowly scurried off. So now my hunt for the elusive little starfish is over, at least for now. I'm sure they will begin hiding from me once again, in which case I will have to begin searching once again.

Darkness. . .

A thunderstorm rolled through last night and knocked the power out at our house for over 3 hours. I managed to stumble through the darkness and find the candles and matches. (The joy of living in a tiny house is one doesn't have to go far to get anything, which cuts down on the amount of times one trips and runs into things in the darkness.) The meowser lounged on the coffee table fixated on the candlelight.

St John

I have just returned from a trip to St John, USVI. My sunburn (where 50 spf did not do its job) has faded already and the 50+ mosquito bites are beginning to disappear. I no longer have a beautiful view off my deck, but I have lots of pictures to remind me of a spectacular week.

Prettiness...is that a word?

My roses are doing so well. They all bloom at once, leaving me with lots of pretty flowers to fill my home with. Now I just need to add to my vase collection. I love my little bunny and penguin. Now I just need a squirrel vase to add to my little animal collection.

Daisy

I went into the backyard this morning and immediately heard plaintive little meows. I'm starting to wonder how much time this little cat spends in my yard. She was quite comfortable lounging on a kayak.

If she continues being so precious, it is going to be hard for me not to keep her. I wonder if Izzy would like her? Probably not. She then threw herself in front of the door to prevent me from returning inside. When that failed, she attempted to sneak in. Sigh. She is too sweet.

Meow

We have a squatter in our backyard. I have named her Daisy. She is a little silver tabby kitty kat. I went outside to water the roses this morning and she was on the deck staring at me. So I gave her some belly rubs and she tried to eat my hand.

I've seen her around the house before, but she usually runs off home. At least I hope she has a home to run off to. She has a collar, but she must belong to brilliant people, because there is no tag attached to that collar.

I went to go back inside, to my Izzy Rose, who doesn't have a tag or a collar, but who is petrified of being outside and therefore has no need for either, since she is a strictly inside kitty, and Daisy tried to follow me in. She was very persistent. I didn't let her in though, I don't believe in catnapping. So I went inside and found my Izzy, who was and still is pretty pissed at me. She is a jealous meowser and doesn't like it when I give belly rubs freely to other felines. I hope she gets over it by the end of the day.
